Texas High School leads the Northeast Texas area in the number of winners in the National Merit Scholars Program.  Seventeen Finalists, two Semifinalists and 34 Commended Students have graduated from THS in the past 13 years. More than $825,000 in academic scholarships were awarded to 1995 graduates.
The highly qualified staff, 47% of whom have master's degrees, regularly win state and national awards and are invited to share their expertise on programs at the state, national and international levels. They are the key to the success of the 5500 students.

The district serves a student population of 5332 students. Average class size in grades K-8 is 19.29. All grades have gifted/talented programs. Honors courses are taught in grades 9-12, and seniors are offered advanced placement courses in English, Calculus, and European History.

A total of 152 courses are offered at Arkansas High School. In 1995 Arkansas High School seniors received $623,000 in scholarships, proof of the excellent education available in the Texarkana, Arkansas School District.

Liberty-Eylau Independent School District is located in the southwest section of Texarkana. The district is convenient to shopping areas, lakes, golf courses, and Perot Theatre. There are six campuses in the Liberty-Eylau ISD: Pre K-K Campus; Grades 1-2 Campus; Grades 3-5; Grades 6-8; and a high school campus for grades 9-12. The district also has an alternative school campus.

All campuses offer a diversified instructional program for all students including gifted and special students. Each campus offers computer assisted instruction to all students. Dual enrollment classes which offers a student an opportunity to earn both high school and college credit are offered at the high school. Adult education courses are offered at the alternative school.

Educational programs and policies are developed in a collaborative manner between parents, community patrons, business and industry, staff, and leaders of the churches in the community.

The district employs 232 professional staff members that are supported by 112 auxiliary staff members. All work together to offer a quality educational program to 2750 students.



Pleasant Grove Independent School District

Pleasant Grove Independent School District is located in the northern part of the Texarkana area and consists of three campuses which house approximately 1950 students, grades Pre-K-12.  For the fourth year, all campuses in Pleasant Grove ISD have been selected to serve as Mentor Campuses by the Texas Education Agency.  As Mentor Campuses, each school shares its successful educational practices with other schools across the state. 
As a district, the Pleasant Grove ISD has earned the highest rating of "exemplary" in the Accountability Rating System for Texas Public Schools.  The district has been rated exemplary for the last four years.  Student performance is well above the state average while expenditures per student are below the state average. 
Approximately 85% of the graduating students attend college.  The 126 graduates in the Class of 1999 earned $1.6 million in scholarships.

The community actively supports the schools, and the Pleasant Grove Parent Teacher Association is among the largest in Texas.

This unique school is a free public school authorized by the Texas Board of Education and the Texas Education Agency.  The school has an open enrollment policy for student in grades 6 through 12.. The school offers individualized diagnostically prescribed curriculum, remedial and college preparatory courses, skill mastery in reading, math, science, social studies, language and computer.
